Xiaomi Presents Its Mi Pad 4 Plus, A 10-Inch Tablet At 250 €

Full HD display, Snapdragon 660, 4GB / 64GB

After Apple and its iPad “cheap” and Samsung with its Galaxy Tab S4, it is the turn of Xiaomi to make the news in the world of tablets with its Mi Pad 4 Plus.

The tablet market may have been rather quiet in recent years, but that has not stopped Xiaomi from announcing a new product, the Mi Pad 4 Plus, a slate of 10 inches with solid features. Question design, the inspiration is to look for Apple, but aware of the state of the market Xiaomi has positioned his tablet at a price ultra-competitive since in gross conversion the device is 250 € (1899 yuan) ).

For the moment, the device has only been announced in China and no information regarding possible availability in Europe has been delivered. The features of the tablet are as follows:

10.1 inch FHD + display (1920 x 1200 px)

Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 mobile chip

4/64 GB or 4/128 GB

Battery 8 620 mAh

13MP camera (back) / 5MP (front)

USB Type-C connector

Android 8.1 (Oreo)

Bluetooth 5.0

As its name suggests, the Mi Pad 4 Plus is actually the 10-inch version of the Mi Pad 4 that was announced at the end of June for 1,099 yuan (about 150 € in gross conversion). Both tablets share a large part of their data sheet. The only differences are the size of the screen (obviously), the battery (6000 mAh on the 8-inch model) and the fact that the standard model offers a configuration with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of RAM; the Plus model starts at 4/64 GB. The larger model also has a button on the front panel. Both devices are distinguished by their massive battery that should make them champions of autonomy.

In a poor market, dominated by Apple, and where product renewals for consumers are only every 4 or 5 years (when they are done), it is not sure that Xiaomi manages to pull his pin of the game. But it will not be for lack of having tried since the pair of tablets of the manufacturer is rather attractive for the price….

Huawei: the P Smart + will arrive in France at the end of August for € 299

And his brand new Kirin 710 chip

In China, Huawei has marketed the Huawei Nova 3i, a mid-range smartphone equipped with the all-new Kirin 710 chip.

On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, Huawei officially announced the arrival of the Nova 3i in France, at the end of August. The smartphone also takes the opportunity to change its name and become the P Smart +. If three versions of the terminal are available in China, it is the most “light” of them, offering 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, which will be sold for 299 €.

Huawei launched this Wednesday, July 18, 2018 its Nova 3i in China. This smartphone is expanding the mid-range of the manufacturer and has a small feature. It is the first terminal of the company to integrate their new chip Kirin 710, developed by HiSilicon a subsidiary of Huawei. Possessing the same model number as the Snapdragon 710 unveiled in May, the internal component of the Nova 3i is still less powerful.

An improved mid-range Kirin chip

With its 169 grams weighing, the Nova 3i is equipped with a IPS panel of 6.3 inches at 19: 9 ratio displaying in Full HD + (1080 x 2280 pixels). The terminal has a 3,340 mAh battery that will charge via a micro-USB jack. On the side of the camera, the terminal has two double modules, front and rear. On its back, the first sensor, 16 megapixels, is accompanied by a lens opening at f / 2.2. At the front, the main sensor mounts it at 24 megapixels. On both sides, a 2 megapixel sensor, supposed to improve the effect of depth to make for example bokeh

But the big novelty of the smartphone is therefore at the level of the integrated chip, successor of the Kirin 659 present in many mid-range smartphones from Huawei and Honor, like the P20 Lite or Honor 9 Lite. Accompanied by 4 or 6 GB of RAM depending on the version, the Kirin 710 joins the market, nestled within the Nova 3i. Including 4 Cortex cores A73 at 2.2 GHz and 4 cores A53 at 1.7 GHz, the architecture is very close to the big.LITTLE Kirin 970. It is engraved in 12 mm where the Kirin 659 spreads on 16 mm. Huawei assures that this Kirin 710 is 75% more efficient on single-core performance and 68% more multicore performance than the previous generation. Regarding the GPU, it is a Mali-G51 MP4 chip that is used. What increase by a factor 1.3 the speed of calculation, still according to Huawei.

If this marks a rise in quality for the mid-range smartphones of Huawei and Honor, the set remains a little behind the Snapdragon 710, slightly more enticing on paper thanks to a better optimized architecture and more powerful components.

Marketed in China under 300 €

Available since Wednesday, July 18 in China, the Nova 3i comes in two versions, a combination of 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of memory sold for 1,999 yuan (254 €) and the other equipped with a 6 GB / 64 combo Go sold at 2,199 yuan (€ 279). Finally, a latest version more complete (6 GB / 128 GB) is expected to join the Chinese shelves in August, its price is still unknown. For the moment, an arrival in France is not in the program, however other smartphones equipped with the chip Kirin 710 should follow, and some might well cross our borders.
